Mechanic Wanted

Mechanic Wanted

Airport Maintenance Services is a family owned business, with hands on owners. Our business has grown substantially in the last two years, and we are looking for someone who can help us continue growing.
We like to do things right, and we expect our team to do the same. We work with the mantra that if you don’t have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to make it right later.
Our work is varied from near new car servicing, Motorhome repairs and maintenance to equipment that is involved in airport operations, we do it all. We are also an approved vehicle inspection station.

About the role

After a trial period, assuming we like each other, you would continue on a permanent basis.

The role suits a Jack/Jill of all mechanical trades who is looking for varied work.
Because you will be working at the Launceston Airport, common sense is mandatory.
We are growing our business and have plenty of work available.
For the right candidate(s) we may have a degree of flexibility on how we structure the role, we may employ more than one person.
We are looking for someone with a commitment to their work and who will help us continue to grow our business over time. In return we will provide uniform, tools of trade, wide ranging and interesting mechanical work. No doing the same thing day in, day out with us.

To apply please provide a cover letter and your resume telling us about yourself and the vehicles/equipment you have worked on recently, demonstrating your knowledge of:

  •  Hydraulics
  •  Auto and industrial electrics
  •  Welding

As noted, if you are a late term apprentice that can prove to us that you are a self-starter and have worked on a variety of equipment, have skills to use a computer in a business environment and customer comes first attitude, then we may have a role for you.

In this physically demanding role, you will be a qualified motor mechanic, or someone with extreme mechanical aptitude. Ideally you will have worked on a variety of mechanical items in the past. If you cannot demonstrate your mechanical skills to us in an interview, you will not be considered, so don’t waste your time applying.

You must:

  • Knowledge of hydraulics.
  • Auto and industrial electrics.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Be prepared for all background checks, including police and federal government clearances.
  • Understand that you may be drug and alcohol tested at any time, there will be no tolerance for failed tests.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and know what to do next, without being told.
  • Be comfortable with using computers in a business environment (we will train you how we want you to use them).
  • Be able to work unsupervised.
  • Be physically fit.
  • Have a high level of common sense, and be able to demonstrate you have it.
  • It would be great if you can weld, although not essential.
